Submitted by Iggy Koopa, May 23, 2016 at 8:41 AM.

iggykoopaWell it’s been a while since we last had an update to the blog and a lot of things have changed since then. In case you aren’t aware (and shame on you if you’re not!) the fellas over at the 9th Age have now released their final v.1.0 Rulebook and Army books! They’ve announced that these are the final changes and there will not be any changes until at least September 2016! Tons of beta testing, rules testing, and army battles were fought out and taken into consideration and they decided on this final version aptly named 9th Age: Fantasy Battles, v.1.0. And because we are now in the first official version of 9th Age we are getting ready to hit the Grand Tournament scene this summer and into fall and have decided to hold a one-day tournament to help prep for those tournaments as well as get together again to roll some dice and try out the latest version of 9th Age!!

So, on Saturday, June 4th, at Hero Complex located in Wichita, Kansas we will be hosting a 2,500 point 9th Age tournament using everything that is v.1.0! I know a lot of us have played some games with the newest rules and have been honing our army list and now’s the time to put them to the test and take the field of battle!

Battle for Oz Round 4 – Dorothy’s Revenge – Tournament Report Out!!

Submitted by Iggy Koopa, February 23, 2016 at 7:43 AM.

iggykoopaThe Battle for Oz Tournament Series has come to a close and we sent it off with a great Final Round (Dorothy’s Revenge) by having 10 generals show up to do battle! There was some hard fought games, plenty of people meddling with the Winds of Magic, and in the end there was a first ever Grand Champion crowned! If you recall, we set out to have 4 tournaments that would be Wizard of Oz themed and lead up to the Wicked GT next month! Well after some thought we came up with the Battle for Oz Tournament Series!! And over the last year we’ve played 4 different tournaments – all with their own theme – and finally crowned the Grand Champion, based off of the final points standings!

Here’s the final standings:

  • Overall Champion – Rob Nevarez, Dwarven Holds (2-1 record, 112 of 150 points total)
  • Best General – Jon Pike, Sylvan Elves (2-1 record, 58 of 75 Battle Points)
  • Best Sportsman – Evan Schwamb, Vampire Covenant
  • Best Appearance – Austin Murrey, Kingdom of Equitaine (see below!)

And we also crowned the first ever Grand Champion of the Battle for Oz Tournament Series! Sticking with the theme of Best General for all 4 tournaments, Jon Pike walked away as the first ever Battle for Oz Tournament Series Grand Champion! He ended up with a total of 77 Points! Coming up right in 2nd place was Austin Murrey with 75 total points. It was a close race throughout the entire series!

Below are some pictures of Austin’s amazing Kingdom of Equitaine army!

Battle for Oz Round 4, Dorothy’s Return Home News & Notes!!!

Submitted by Iggy Koopa, January 18, 2016 at 8:25 AM.

iggykoopa
A quick update for everybody that is planning on attending the final round of the Battle for Oz Tournament Series – Dorothy’s Return Home! Remember that it will be featuring The 9th Age! (www.the-ninth-age.com) rules as will the Wicked GT in March 18-20, 2016! As you are well aware, the 9th Age rules are still considered to be in “beta” testing and a final version will be released some time within the next few months… So because of this…

  • Round 4 for the Battle for Oz Tournament Series will be played using the current rules – v0.11.1! We’re going to draw a line in the sand so that you have time to properly build your list and not have to get used to a new version if one gets released between now and then. This roughly gives us one month to anticipate any changes and then we can react to those changes once they’ve been made and submitted. Rather than hassling with changes we’re just going to use v0.11.1 in order to play the final round of the Battle for Oz Tournament Series! This could change if changes come sooner rather than later but we’ll make sure to keep everybody updated as to what we decide to do, however, for now, bank on just using the current rule set!
  • It’s a tight race between the top contenders of the Battle for Oz Tournament Series! We’re going to finish the Series off right and then prep for the 2nd annual Wicked GT in March 2016! If you’re interested in signing up for Round 4 or the Wicked GT then please send an email to mwgamingalliance@yahoo.com and we’ll get you signed up. Looking forward to a great turnout!!
